This Page was created from the book, "UAW at Ford". I put this site together for local 879 to look at so they could see the type of job I can do with webpage programing. This is just a small sample website. If I do the webpage for the union it will have more things on it then this sample page. UAW Bargaining Is American Democracy at Work For 62 years, the United Auto Workers have been representing hourly employees in negotiations with Ford Motor Company.k#$(@x|@EK??Arial Arial Representing is the key word. The UAW is an organization whose bargaining representatives are elected by the hourly employees. Campaigns are waged on factory floors. Elections are held at union halls. Votes are tallied. And bargaining representatives and elected officers begin their work with the understanding that they are obligated to serve their constituency: the workers. That the UAW has successfully repersented the needs of workers in this way for so many years is a testament to the power of American-style representative democracy. This is a democracy that operates every day. It never rests. It is never satisfied. It is never complacent. It always works to discover the needs and goals of the workers and to communicate those needs and goals to Ford.k#$x@S@GEU??Arial :~email@provider.comwww.coffeecup.com/sales ACHIEVEMENTSk#$k@S@EU??Arial :~email@provider.comwww.coffeecup.com/salesHow it all Begank#$i@S@EKUi??Arial :~email@provider.comwww.coffeecup.com/salesTIMELINEk.)zCars:: My Homepage ::XwbX9C:\PROGRA~1\COFFEE~1\VISUAL~1\Templates\Private\wheel.jpgB9rd@V@A@V@d@V@ r@V@A@V@ r@V@A@W@d@W@ r@W@#$=l@D@D=??Arial$ ACHIEVEMENTSku4 #WR d@V@B9rk u4222 #WR K`U@Y@(S}uk ;u4 2>:~email@provider.comwww.coffeecup.com/sales'9ArialHomeWR K`U@Y@(S}uk ;u4 2>22:~email@provider.comwww.coffeecup.com/sales'9ArialHome##@t@l@k:~email@provider.comwww.uawford.com#$]wj@Xu@+w ]w??ArialArial jzJOB SECURITY Job Security is at the core of the UAW's priorities. First and foremost, the jobs of the membership must be secure. PERSONAL DIGNITY Ever since the UAW has worked to preserve and enhance the role of the employee in the workplace, employee's contributions to health and safety, quality, and day-to-day production operations are invited and valued. INCOME SECURITY Annually negotiated wage increases and cost-of-living allowances preserve a decent standard of living for UAW-represented employees.k#$8@s@p ??ArialArial FAMILY PROTECTION Insurance coverage for illness, injury, disability, and death protects the surviving family members in the event of a tragedy. In the early 1900's, thousands of people left their farms, their countries, even their families and migrated to Detroit for one thing: jobs. Henry Ford's assembly line revolutionized the auto industry, and factory jobs offered steady paychecks. The Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) and the Carriage and Wagon Workers Union were among the earliest predecessors of the auto unions. In 1935, Congress passed the Wagner Act and created the National Labor Relations Board. The Wagner Act strengthened the ability of unions to organize production workers. In the wake of the Wagner Act, the unions that were to midwife the birth of the UAW were the American Federation of Labor (AFL) and Committee for Industrial Organization (CIO).k.)zLinks:: My Homepage ::XwbX9C:\PROGRA~1\COFFEE~1\VISUAL~1\Templates\Private\wheel.jpg#$*=e@D@C*=??Arial$TIMELINEku4 #WR d@V@B9rk u4222 #WR K V@Y@+Suk ;u4 2>:~email@provider.comwww.coffeecup.com/sales'9ArialHomeWR K V@Y@+Suk ;u4 2>22:~email@provider.comwww.coffeecup.com/sales'9ArialHome#$^ j@Hv@(o:^??ArialArial Arial,,1941 The First Agreement!
